Bodegas Piedra - Crianza, Toro, Spain (2019)
80% Tinta de Toro (Toro's synonym for Tempranillo) and 20% Garnacha.
A complex nose with ripe plum jams, a slightly meaty note, pepper along with layered over spiced and toasty notes. Big, dense and chewy on the palate, where the fruit notes shine through. This is a structured wine with noble tannins and a long, aromatic finish.
Grown on exceptionally stony soils with a sandy surface. The continental climate, influenced by the Atlantic, along with it’s location at an altitude of 330m above sea level cause huge diurnal variations in temperature. With long, cold winters, and short but intense summers, the acidity levels are well preserved.
