Bodegas Victoria Ordonez - Jabega, Malaga, Spain (2020)
A bright straw yellow colour with a delicate nose of white flowers and orange blossom. Persistent acidity holds together the wine's beautiful floral notes and provides freshness to the roundness derived from 10-months aging in contact with the fine lees.
A dry white made from 75% Pedro Ximénez (PX) and 25% Moscatel. PX was all but abandoned for anything other than the small percentage of sherries that are sweet but was the dominant wine of Malaga for thousands of years (dating to the Phoenicians - the inspiration for the label's artwork). Ordoñez is working to revive old, abandoned vineyards and revive PX's place as one of southern Spain's defining dry, white wines.
From vines of 40 and 80 years of age and 700 to 900 meters above sea level on very steep slopes (more than 40% inclines) of the Montes de Málaga.
