Espaço Rural is the personal project of Pedro Ribeiro. Both Pedro and his wife Catarine Vieira were winemakers in other Portuguese regions, but decided to come to Vidigueira, in southern Alentejo. Soils are decomposed granite and some schist with exposure to Atlantic Ocean winds that help retain freshness in the wines.
Careful selection of grapes, low yields, pruning and early harvest with fermentation in clay pots called Talha, in tribute to the region's historical practices where both wine and skins remain in contact until November 11th (St. Martin’s day).
