Torraccia di Presura is located in a beautiful part of the Chianti Classico region where vineyards alternate with olive groves and pine woods, overlooking the river Ema, about 15 km south from Florence.
A relative newcomer to the area, the winery was established in 1986 and while the predominant grape is Sangiovese, the family is committed to sustaining the importance of the local grapes Canaiolo Nero, Colorino, Foglia Tonda as well as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine is predominantly Sangiovese but the others are used in various percentages depending on the vintage.
The ancient soil is lean, light, and stony, leading to vine stress that bears complex fruit. The microclimate is warm due to the low altitude, assuring excellent ripeness even in challenging vintages.
WINE #1, 2 & 3! - TORRACCIA DI PRESURA - LUCCIOLAIO - IGT COLLI DELLA TOSCANA CENTRALE ROSSO, ITALY (2006, 2008, 2013)
Explore the evolution of wine built to age across three stellar vintages of Lucciolaio (named for the fireflies that fill the skies around the winery at twilight).
Lucciolaio is typically about 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured 18 months in barrique. Each of the three vintages are at various stages of evolution showing increasing garnet shadings and a complex bouquet of once ripe, but now beautifully evolving red fruits, essences of sandalwood, spices, vanilla and liquorice; a full palate that is elegant, well balanced with a very long finish.
