TASTING NOTES
Beautifully complex on the nose, the Abadía de Gomariz opens up with a dark fruit bouquet of black cherry, black currant and liquorice; all of which mingle with earthy notes of tree bark, finely crushed granite, wisps of smoke and botanicals. The wine reveals itself on the palate as a full-bodied wine, with moderate tannins and a special grip, signature of the complex soils of the vineyard.

Ricardo Carreiro founded Coto de Gomariz in the seventies, when he managed to return to his land after emigrating to South America like so many other Galicians. His dream was to make wines and restore Gomariz's prestige as a historical vineyard. Known as the "Golden Mile" of the Ribeiro since the 10th century, Gomariz is the oldest Viticultural Reserve in the Iberian Peninsula and has exceptional characteristics for growing grapes.
Abadía de Gomariz is a blend Sousón (50%) with some Brancellao, Ferrol and Mencía, all indigenous varieties of Galicia. The grapes grow in terraces and slopes surrounding the estate, where the soil is mainly granite and schist.
