Darmós Joan d'Anguera - Planella, Montsant, Spain (2019)
Finca la Planella is a north-facing vineyard (i.e., away from the sun) resulting in real freshness from an otherwise very warm climate.
For the first vintage ever, this wine is 100% older vine Cariñena (the previously used Syrah is no longer part of the blend with d'Anguera favouring local varieties solely).
Aged for 12 months in neutral French oak barrel and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The nose is perfumed and savoury with dried flowers, black plums. The palate is medium plus bodied and very balanced between high acidity, jangly wine grained tannins and ample big, black plus, fruit. There is a wealth of spices to the palate too making this a really memorable wine.
