DeForville - Barbaresco, Italy (2019)
Classic Barbaresco aromas and flavours of truffle, earth, dusty cherries, rose, tar and leather. As always, assertive sandy tannins on the palate, but elegant - refined. A beautifully complex and nuanced wine.
Nebbiolo grapes cultivated in the vineyards of Loreto, Ovello and Cavanna in the commune of Barbaresco. Fermented in stainless steel with regular pump oversand aged 24 months in large, used, Slavonian oak botti.
The DeForville family emigrated to Piedmont from Belgium in 1848 and established themselves in the village of Barbaresco in 1860. The winery is now represented by the fourth generation, Mafalda and her husband, Bruno Anfosso with a transition to the fifth generation unfolding to sons Valter and Paolo Anfosso.
