Domaine de Montrieux - Picro chole, Pineau d'Aunis, Coteaux du Vendômois, Loire (2020)
Slightly desiccated strawberry fruit with beetroot, earth and an aromatic lift from wild flowers. For a lighter-bodied wine, this has intensity and length with light, raspy tannins. A blend of young and most of her old vines of Pineau d'Aunis. 3 weeks of fermentation in an open stainless steel vat, Then ageing in fiberglass vat until bottling.
Ariane Lesné fell under the spell of the 2005 vintage of Domaine de Montrieux' pineau d’aunis Rouge. In the beginning of 2014, Ariane learned that Emile Héredia, the owner of Domaine de Montrieux in the Côteaux du Vendômois, would be selling the estate. She didn’t think twice about it, and by harvest time she was living on the estate, ultimately taking over by the spring of 2015.
