Domaine Ramonet - Aligotè, Chassagne-Montrachet, Bourgogne, France (2020)
This comes from a 0.5 hectare plot planted to a mix of Aligoté Doré and Vert with an average age of 60-year old vines. The white is whole-bunch pressed in pneumatic, fermented in a mix of steel and barrel, and then aged on the fine lees for 15 moths in old oak, where it completes malolactic. An alive wine with racy acid but also plenty of creamy-nutty-leesy Burgundy character.
One of the most renowned estates in prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet. Ramonet's white wines are legendary, but most Burgundy insiders rate the appellation's reds (including Ramonet's) as being the real stars and truest expressions of the terroir.
