Domaine Rousset - Crozes-Hermitage Blanc, Northern Rhône, France (2020)

Mineral-tinged orchard and citrus fruit with lots of floral notes. Good acid structure keeps this fairly broad bodied wine focused, with a touch of marzipan and cough drops providing complexity to lots of ripe Bosc pear, tangerine and melon flavours. A long, precise finish. 

A blend of 85% marsanne with 15% roussannne. Raised in stainless tanks and large used barrels.

Stéphane Rousset, 3rd generation vigneron operates this small, family-run estate of mostly old vines (60 – 80 year), planted on steep granite slopes in the northernmost part of Crozes-Hermitage...in the shadow of the celebrated hill of Hermitage. Wines are made with minimal handling, and raised in mostly older oak barrels. Despite land holdings of 10 hectares, these wines are not easy to find outside of France, owing to their strong following among French collectors and sommeliers, and often found in Michelin-starred restaurants.
