The vineyard is located in a small clearing in the Serradenari hill called “Pian della Mole” given its altitude at 500 meters where the soils are very sandy. Fermentations take place in steel tanks with 20-day macerations, while aging takes place both in steel and in 60 HL oak barrels for 18 months.
Born in Palermo, Giulia had an unconventional path into wine. Her grandfather purchased the Barolo estate in 1870 with 16.5 hectares of forest and 2 hectares of vines. He took the unusual step of removing the vineyards to try to culture truffles. Giulia’s father intended to sell the estate...but...
Giulia fell in love with wine and worked across Europe. In 2010 she started making her own wine, moved to Barolo in 2013 and from 2014 she did the entire process for the first time: tending the vineyards and making the wine. She began following each of the different vineyard plots looking for phenolic ripeness. In 2017, her parents gave her the entire estate, and she merged the existing brands under her own name.
