TASTING NOTES

A pretty and vibrant expression of Sangiovese. No oak, no tricks - just a pure, thrilling expression of Sangiovese. Intense floral notes of violets and jasmine along with incense and tea leaves, the palate explodes with juicy strawberry and red cherry fruit with herbal notes of rosemary. Lively acidity, moderate tannins and lovely bitter orange note. 

All of Damianos's wines show real delicacy and an elegant touch with a focus on fruit purity and transparent expression.

Fermented and aged on the lees for 9 months in stainless steel.

Le Cerque [meaning Oak Tree] is located in Umbria on 22 hectares of parkland. Damiano Scalici used to lead the United Nations’ global response for food emergencies created by natural disasters. Following his career, he returned to his family’s roots of winemaking and purchased a bucolic retreat in the Umbrian countryside. 

Vines were planted 20 years ago on a lovely mix of limestone and clay soils - with just the right blend of free draining and water retention qualities.  Damiano embraces sustainable agriculture practices, creating high quality products that respect the environment.
