Lelarge Pugeot Tradition Champagne (2017)
A favourite of the Bossanova crew (and the last wine we had in public before lockdown). As Napoleon said of champagne..."In victory we deserve it. In defeat, we need it."
You need this one. 65% Pinot Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay. 25-year-old vines, 6 months in tank and 3-4 years of ageing on lees in the bottle. Dosage 5g/l. Expect bruised apples, brioche, and delicate strawberries.
Grape growers since 1799 and producing their own wine since 1935, Lelarge Pugeot is biodynamic with minimal manipulation in the cellar and fermentation is carried out by indigenous yeast. Sourced from the sandy/clay terroir of the premier cru village of Vrigny, this is grower champagne at keen value!
