Derek Barnett is an Ontario winemaking legend, starting at Southbrook's early incarnation in Maple, north of Toronto before they moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake. In 2001, Derek left Southbrook to begin Lailey Vineyard making some of Ontario’s earliest examples of knockout, boutique (and cellar-worthy) wines.
In 2015, Lailey was sold and Derek launched his very own Meldville Wines and as winemaker of Karlo Estates where Richard Karlo had unexpectedly passed away.
