Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs - ‘Cuvée Hémisphère Nord’, Bourgogne Côte d’Or, France (2019)
bossanova managed to secure a tiny allocation of a legendary Bourgogne-producer!
While 2019 was an exceptionally warm vintage, as evidenced in the higher than normal abv and ripe fruit, Meo_Camuzet manages to integrate a heftier-than-the-norm wine into a refreshing, light on its feet wine that is a genuine window into the ethereal wines of the renowned Domaine Meo-Camuzet at a steal of a price. From grapes secured from long-term relationships with growers across Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot. Meo-Camuzet crafts refined wines even at the regional level.
Based on the mentorship of Henri Jayer, Meo-Camuzet typically destems all fruit and macerates on skins from 3-5 days at low temperatures to preserve fruit purity and a lighter style. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled concrete vats, lasting for 2-3 weeks and only small doses of sulfur are used.
