Velluto Valpolicella Meroni is a pale, elegant, subtle yet vibrant, natural Valpolicella. The nose is delicate with red berries and provides real tension between a velvety core and the medium body and crunchy fruit.

Carlo Meroni took over from his father and continued the family legacy of producing traditional Valpolicella wines with minimum intervention from their ancient soils in the birth place of Amarone, Sant Ambrogio. Meroni strives for honesty rather than blockbuster, sweet, over-extracted Amarone and Valpolicella that is so often seen on the market today.
This wine is named Velluto (velvet) because a poet (Berto Berberani) who was passing through Valpolicella during the second world war wrote of Meroni (translated from the Italian):
"Dear Meroni, we received the S. Ambrogio wine made of Velvet, and we have drunk it to your health...I must say that in this time of universal turmoil, your wine is like a good medicine to all of us!"
