Ripe red fruit, violets, black olives and sandalwood undertones. Full-ish body with fine-grained tannins and a long persistent finish. 80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon

While the vineyards date back to the early 1700s and was one of the first to record planting of French varieties, the current iteration of the estate traces its roots back to the 1940s when the Bazzocchi family took over with sites across the Val d’ Arno di Sopra DOC appellation, bordering the south eastern area of Chianti Classico.
With altitudes between 250 and 450m and a mixture of marl, sandstone and shale, Petrolo creates a range of wines. The estate believes that Torrione is the true identity of Petrolo, blending the grapes of all its vineyards

The states employs manual harvests, natural vinification with native yeasts, vinification in concrete vats with soft and frequent manual pump overs and long macerations. The Torrione is aged in French oak barriques, partly in 40 Hl oak barrels and partly in concrete vats.
