Tenuta Foresta - Grignolino, Piemonte, Italy (2020)
Dried red fruits, fresh-cut herbs and a beautiful acidic core. Grignolino is typically likened to a baby Nebbiolo, but Olga Semencha macerates the skins for a very short time (1-4 days) resulting in a lighter, fresher style - halfway between a rosé and a red, It is then pressed and the wine finishes fermentation without the mash.
The estate in this beautiful part of Piedmont, the town of Nizza Monferrato, is a young and dynamic winery, working as naturally as possible. No filtration of any kind, and without any additions of sulphites. With a total production volume of about 16 thousand bottles per year, they focus on quality rather than quantity.
At Tenuta Foresta, they invest in the indigenous grape varieties that are so well matched to the soils, like Grignolino and Albarossa.
