Domaine Tessier, located in Cheverny, is a benchmark in the Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny appellations of the Loire Valley. Established in 1961 by Roger Tessier, this family estate now spans 26 hectares across the communes of Cheverny, Cellettes, and Cormeray. Philippe Tessier took over the domaine in 1981 and passed it on to his son, Simon, in 2020. Nestled along the route of the Loire’s iconic castles, the estate benefits from a unique microclimate influenced by the Loire River and the surrounding forested areas.

The vineyards are planted on diverse soils, including siliceous clay, siliceous clay-limestone, and gravel on ancient marine sediments, all underpinned by limestone bedrock. Certified organic since 1998, the estate produces in two distinct appellations. AOC Cour-Cheverny is dedicated solely to Romorantin, a rare and local grape variety, across just 60 ha total!, while AOC Cheverny offers whites, rosés, and reds crafted from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Gamay.

As Simon explains: “We champion a rural, artisanal, honest, and sincere approach to viticulture. A wine should express the place it comes from, reflect the climatic conditions of the year, and embody a touch of the winemaker who crafted it, all while respecting the life of the soil and the environment. It should provide pleasure but, above all, be healthy, vibrant, and digestible—a natural wine.”
