Trail Estate - Chardonnay V4, VQA Prince Edward County (2019)
Quite frankly, a stunner. This wine shows aromas of sweet hay, bright lemon and ripe peaches followed by a zippy palate with beautiful weight and pure county acidity.
As per John Szabo, Master Sommelier: "It’s all about the County tension - there’s real verve and an electric current running through - as well as the typical limestone twang and equally common salinity and sapidity… Great palate presence and complexity, a mineral lover’s selection to be sure, crystalline and pure.”
Hand harvested and pressed whole cluster straight to barrel. Fermented and aged without racking or stirring. 25% new oak, 50% 3rd-fill, 25% 4th-fill — all in 500L format for 10 months. Bottled unfiltered and unfined with minimal sulphur added.
