Château Le Rey farm & vinify individual parcels on the estate, more akin to a Burgundy philosophy than that of traditional Bordeaux, where a first & second wine may be produced.
The Les Argileuses's grapes are planted on the green & blue clay terroir of the estate. The wine is matured in conical stainless-steel tanks and amphorae. It’s a unique expression, with deep varietal characters, so youthful, raw & inviting.
Château Le Rey is a 12-hectare estate in Sainte-Colombe, east of Saint-Émilion. With roots dating back to the Louis XIII era, the property combines rich history with modern precision. Since 2016, it has been owned by Peter Kwok, Philippe Lambrecht, and Jean-Christophe Meyrou, who share a passion for terroir-focused winemaking.
The vineyard, with 30-year-old vines, is farmed sustainably to preserve its environmental balance. Château Le Rey produces two distinct cuvées: Les Argileuses from clay soils and Les Rocheuses from pure limestone — reflecting a Burgundian approach to Bordeaux, where site defines style.
