Château Le Rey farm & vinify individual parcels on the estate, more akin to a Burgundy philosophy than that of traditional Bordeaux, where a first & second wine may be produced.
The wine is matured in barrels with 20% new wood for 12 months.
Château Le Rey is a 12-hectare estate in Sainte-Colombe, east of Saint-Émilion. With roots dating back to the Louis XIII era, the property combines rich history with modern precision. Since 2016, it has been owned by Peter Kwok, Philippe Lambrecht, and Jean-Christophe Meyrou, who share a passion for terroir-focused winemaking.
The vineyard, with 30-year-old vines, is farmed sustainably to preserve its environmental balance. Château Le Rey produces two distinct cuvées: Les Argileuses from blue/green clay soils and Les Rocheuses from pure limestone — reflecting a Burgundian approach to Bordeaux, where site defines style.
