Campania's Taurasi DOCG is based on the Aglianico grape and can trace its origins back as far as 800 BC. The vineyards are within the high elevation area of Avellino, in soils composed of many elements, most notably limestone and volcanic ash. The wines from Taurasi have a tannic grip and slightly smoky finish unlike other Aglianicos.

The wines must be aged for three years before release with a minimum of one year in barrel.

Vineyards: 15-20 years old
Soil: mainly clay
Altitude: 450-650 meters above sea level
Winemaking: 24 months in oak barrels, 10-12 months in bottle

The name Danimi is comprised of the names of  founder Ciro Urciuolo’s three children; David, Nick, and Michela.  The Urciuolo brothers sold their first vintage in 1996 from grapes grown on land where their family had raised chestnut trees for generations in the foothills of Mount Faliesi.
