De Dolle "Oerbier" Dark Strong Ale (2024)
TASTING NOTES
Grape must, cola, dark sugars but no real sweetness. It's well balanced, pours with a perfect whipped head and is the perfect crowd pleaser.
Oerbier has a slightly fresh acidity due to the yeast and lactic acid. The beer will experience a slight taste evolution over time, and becoming more vinous.

Oerbier, brewed in Essen by De Dolle Brouwers, is dark due to the mixture of different types of malt, and hours of cooking time. Only 'Golding' bubble hop from Poperinge is used and all their beers undergo secondary fermentation in the bottle.
It was the first of De Dolle's beer and officially dates from 1980.
The name (which roughly translates to "primeval beer") refers to the originality and purity of the beer.
Samples of the first brew, which are still perfectly drinkable, are kept in the brewery.
