TASTING NOTES

Elegantly riding a line between deep complexity and fresh vibrancy, bright red currant is balanced by smooth black cherry and hints of florality with a bit of wet earth. A touch of rusticity in the tannins reminds you of its approachable, fresh playfulness.

From the undulating lands of Côte Chalonnaise, tucked into the hillside of a premier cru vineyard in Rully. Eric lives up to his name (Suremain = ‘sure hands’) as his belief in personally working closely with his biodynamic vineyards, and his restraint in yields and vinification shine through in this traditional pinot noir with a charmingly suave and spirited soul. Born from clay/limestone soils, the single vineyard grapes are 100% de-stemmed, fermented with natural yeasts and punch downs are done by foot.

Suremain employs short pump-overs and vertical pressing followed by barrel aging for upwards of 2 years. 

Eric joined the family business, created by his grandfather in 1978, his wife Dominique joined in 1983 and daughter Gwendoline in 2019. Their wines are certified organic and biodynamics has been practiced since 1996.
