Kurtatsch - Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige, Italy (2023)
TASTING NOTES
Aromas of ripe pear and apricot, along with flinty, stony notes. The palate is quite rich, but with prevalent acidity; the higher elevation of the vineyards allowed the freshness to remain in the fully ripened grapes.

In this northern-Italian outpost of viticulture, white grapes thrive at breezy, high-altitude sites (450-900 m a.s.l.) above the main village. The microclimate of this steep terrain, which can be risky at times, is also influenced by the cooling katabatic winds that arise in the evenings. A marked temperature difference between daytime and nighttime preserves the wine’s fresh flavors and lively acidity. The permeable, calcareous dolomite soil also characterizes the mineral character of the white wines.
Kurtatsch is a 120+year cooperative totally focused on their health and well-being of the land and the 190 family members that work together to producer excellent value wines.
